Re-Elect Ruth Stanley for Avon Town Council

Key Issues...

HOUSING

Still a top priority. We have expanded Avon's commitment to Community Housing, invested in homeownership and deed-restriction programs, acquired property for future housing and moved Avondale Apartments forward.

Mi Casa / LOCAL HOMEOWNERSHIP

We continued Mi Casa and expanded our homeownership efforts with Good Deeds. In 2025 alone, the two programs helped 17 local households purchase homes in Avon, investing $1.7 million and budgeting additional funding for 2026.

PARKING

We looked into it — and we listened when residents, businesses and visitors told us the private parking systems weren't working. Council responded to widespread concerns, and the private lot owners ultimately changed their rates and approach.    Parking should support our businesses and make Avon welcoming — not discourage people from stopping, shopping, dining and enjoying our Town.

BUDGET & ACCOUNTABILITY

Four years of reviewing Town budgets and major capital investments have made fiscal accountability even more important to me.  I continue to ask: What will it cost? What are we getting in return? And what will today's decision cost Avon five, ten or twenty years from now?

ACCESSIBILITY — WALKING & BIKING

We have continued investing in trails, sidewalks, recreation paths, pedestrian connections and safety improvements — making it easier and safer to move around Avon without always getting into a car.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Four years later, I believe this more strongly than ever. Public input matters. I listen, ask questions and believe Council must be willing to take another look when our residents raise legitimate concerns.

CLIMATE ACTION

We have continued Avon's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility through energy efficiency, conservation, water-wise landscaping, transportation initiatives and protection of our natural resources.

WATER

Water conservation has become even more urgent. Avon has expanded water-wise landscaping and drought-tolerant approaches, including introducing hybrid fescue turf designed to significantly reduce irrigation needs. Protecting our water resources remains essential to Avon's future.

SPECIAL EVENTS, ARTS & CULTURE

Avon continues to offer a vibrant calendar of music, arts, cultural and community events that bring residents and visitors together and support our local economy.

ECONOMIC REDEVELOPMENT

I continue to support thoughtful redevelopment and economic vitality, while asking an important question of major development proposals:   What does Avon — and our community — receive in return?

Growth should make our community stronger, not simply bigger.

QUALITY OF LIFE

We have continued investing in Nottingham Park, trails, recreation, pedestrian improvements, arts, culture and community amenities.   When updated costs and timing raised concerns, Council paused the aquatics remodel rather than simply moving forward, allowing the project to be reevaluated for cost, scope and timing.
